The Shovel blade uses a brand new press tool, specially commissioned by a UK manufacturer. It has been developed to incorporate the better features of the different shovels of the ‘Big Four’, and the different variations are suitable for use on engines of all sizes. 

The blade is pressed from 2 millimetre heavy duty steel, providing a tool which is much more able to withstand heavy use than other recent makes, yet it is still light enough for ease of use. Indeed the prototype shovel has been tested, with favourable results, on regular SVR firing turns by several members of the 4930 Committee!

The Shovels (as you can see) come in two sizes. The longer handle for large engines with big cabs, or the shorter handle for the smaller less roomy cabs.
